What is your IQ ?

Intelligence quotient or simply, IQ is a measure of intellect of a person.

Intellect itself have 3 components;
a) prerequisites (memory,associations)
b) store of knowledge
c) ability to understand, abstract thinking.

A person with high IQ can think abstract things and solve hard problem , so they can easily adapt themselves to the society . On the other hand , a person with low IQ (mental retardation) having problem even to manage themselves, enhance difficulty to adapt with society.

So ,how to determine our IQ level ?

-maybe you had found in the internet quizzes to measure IQ level. But, there are specific test known as Wechler test used to evaluates the IQ level for age from 2-23.

                                   

                          IQ=    Mental age_____    x  100%
                                    Chronological age

  Mental age - age of a person according to their mental ability ( learning,behavior)
  Chronological age- the true age of a person

eg; a boy is 10 year old but, he can only do things that 5 year old boy does.

                his IQ =   5  x  100%  = 50.

Clinical classification according IQ level ;

  50 - 69   Mild mental retardation (Moronic)
  35 - 49   Moderate mental retardation (Imbecile )
  20 - 34   Severe mental retardation ( Imbecile )
  below20 Profound mental retardation ( Idiocy)

Don't worry, if you are able to calculate your IQ according to the formula, that means than you are not mentally retarded because you can think abstract things and do math....hehe..
By the way, Down syndrome person usually belongs to the Imbecile group (IQ=20 - 49)
